DENVER, CO (October 14, 2014) -- Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the largest workplace law firms in the world representing management, is pleased to announce Erik Dullea has joined the firm’s Denver office as Of Counsel. Mr. Dullea, a Commander in the United States Navy Reserve who joins the firm from Squire Patton Boggs LLP, brings to Jackson Lewis almost a decade of experience in safety and health law with a focus on the mining and transportation industries as well as on issues facing government contractors.
“Erik is a key player in our group’s strategic growth plan,” said Mark N. Savit, Co-Leader of Jackson Lewis’ Workplace Safety and Health practice group, which recently landed OSHA Shareholder Carla Gunnin in Atlanta. “His unique background in the aviation, defense and military worlds adds a new dimension to our capabilities, and his expertise in the industrial and mining sectors will provide our clients with unique advantages as we continue to help them navigate the increasingly complex regulations concerning workplace safety.”
“Erik’s experience gives a significant boost to our growing Denver team,” added Mickey Silberman, Managing Shareholder of the Denver office. “His arrival, coupled with our September addition of Shareholder Timothy M. Kratz, emphasizes our commitment to attracting high-level attorneys to serve our regional and national client base.”
Mr. Dullea regularly provides advice and counsel to government contractors on transactional matters, bid protests and civil litigation and represents clients before federal agencies including the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He has advised and counseled mine operators during fatality investigations, special investigations targeting individual mine managers, and responses to MSHA’s attempts to place operators on its Pattern of Violations enforcement program. In addition, Mr. Dullea has advised companies during various challenges of federal and state OSHA enforcement actions. Mr. Dullea’s work before the FAA includes defending pilots and operators during FAA enforcement actions and providing collaborative representation for a Colorado community’s safety concerns with respect to specific airport landing patterns.
Prior to joining Squire Patton Boggs, Mr. Dullea served as a commercial airline pilot with United Airlines, where he was also a pilot instructor and FAA-designated evaluator. There he was elected for two terms as the Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Airline Pilots’ Association (ALPA) Local Executive Council for United’s Flight Training Center. During those terms, he was heavily involved in labor relations, as well as airline training and safety issues.
