(WASHINGTON, DC – December 12, 2014) – Squire Patton Boggs is pleased to announce that David Schnittger, Deputy Chief of Staff to U.S. House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), will join the firm's Washington, DC office in January as Senior Policy Advisor for Squire Patton Boggs' Public Policy practice.

“Dave Schnittger is one of the most capable and respected staff members on Capitol Hill.  We are delighted that he is joining us at Squire Patton Boggs.” said former Senate Majority Leader and co-chair of Squire Patton Boggs’ Public Policy practice, Trent Lott.

A member of Boehner's congressional staff since 1994, Schnittger has worked as deputy chief of staff in Boehner's leadership office since 2006, serving in that key role during Boehner's time as House Majority Leader, Minority Leader, and, ultimately, Speaker.  As deputy chief of staff to the Speaker, he participates in the daily meetings of the House Republican leadership team and oversees the Speaker's communications, outreach and special events operations.  He is currently the longest-serving member of Speaker Boehner's staff.

"For two decades, Dave has helped to build and serve as the beating heart of an incredibly successful political, policy, and leadership operation on Capitol Hill and at home in Ohio.  Every single day, his enthusiasm has been matched only by his skill, his smarts, and his loyalty," said Speaker Boehner. "We always say that 'no one ever really leaves Boehnerland' and I'm particularly happy that Dave -- the unofficial 'Dean of Boehnerland' -- isn't going too far.  I wish him and his family, especially Stephanie, continued success and happiness."

Beginning in January, Schnittger will advise Squire Patton Boggs and its clients on global communications and legislative strategy, working with former Senators Trent Lott and John Breaux and others as part of Squire Patton Boggs' public policy practice.

Born in Cincinnati and raised in West Chester, Ohio, Schnittger served as press secretary for the Ohio congressman during the latter half of the 1990s and as communications director for the House Committee on Education and the Workforce from 2001 to 2005, during Boehner's time as chairman of the committee.  In 2005, Schnittger became chief of staff for Boehner's congressional office, a role he held during the critical months that culminated in Boehner's successful run for House Majority Leader and return to the House leadership ranks.

Schnittger graduated magna cum laude from the University of Dayton in 1993 with a degree in economics and political science.  He is a 1989 graduate of Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, OH.  Dave and his wife Stephanie live in Chantilly, VA, with their five children, Ella, Kayla, Julia, Andrew, and Cecilia.
