San Francisco – January 28, 2015 – International law firm Withers Bergman announced today the continued expansion of its San Francisco office with the addition of real estate and corporate attorney W. Stephen Wilson. Mr. Wilson, who comes from Weintraub Tobin, joins the firm as Of Counsel.

“Non-U.S. investors and entrepreneurs are increasingly looking to Northern California real estate as an investment vehicle, a home for a growing company, or for personal use,” said Ivan A. Sacks, Chairman of Withersworldwide. “Steve’s skillset complements our strengths in the region and his arrival represents our dedication to building out our California offerings to meet our clients’ needs.”

Mr. Wilson focuses on complex real estate and corporate transactional matters. This has included managing projects involving significant Bay Area high-density and mixed-use real estate entitlement, commercial purchases, sales, financings, leases, securitization of real estate and real estate ownership entities.  He has considerable experience with offshore clients, with particular focus on clients from the ASEAN nations, such as Vietnam.  He lectured to Chambers of Commerce throughout Indonesia in 2013.

“I’m confident Withers Bergman’s national strength and global capabilities will immediately benefit my practice and clients,” Mr. Wilson said. “I’m thrilled to join a rapidly growing San Francisco office and work alongside colleagues with proven experience helping those with interests in the Bay Area.”

Mr. Wilson is a member of local, state and national Bar Associations and provides his services pro bono to several nonprofit organizations, including serving as general counsel for Children’s Hopechest, a leading international orphan care nonprofit, and serving as an advisor and on the Capital Campaign Committee for Healthright 360, California's acclaimed provider of integrated rehabilitation services.  He has been rated as an AV lawyer in Martindale's peer review rankings for a number of years and earned his B.A. from Stanford University and his J.D. from University of California, Berkeley.

Withers Bergman opened its San Francisco office in January 2014 to deliver its wealth planning and corporate advice directly to clients on the U.S. West Coast. The office primarily provides domestic and cross-border advice on real estate, wealth planning, tax planning, corporate, charitable giving and immigration matters; and handles technology transactions, venture capital financing and M&A.
