Los Angeles (April 1, 2015) — Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP announced today that white collar litigator Kristin N. Tahler will join the firm’s Los Angeles office as a partner.

Before joining Quinn Emanuel, Ms. Tahler was a senior member of the White Collar group in the LA office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.  She has represented individuals, companies, Boards, and special committees of boards in a variety of civil and criminal actions involving criminal and regulatory government investigations, internal corporate investigations, government contracting fraud allegations, insider trading allegationsFalse Claims Act litigation, securities litigation, and class action antitrust litigation.  She has extensive experience in white collar criminal defense, internal investigations, and complex civil matters most often related to criminal or quasi-criminal charges.  A principal focus of her practice in recent years has been representing clients from the Middle East whose activities were investigated by US regulators.

Managing Partner John B. Quinn said:  “White Collar is the fastest growing practice in the firm.  Regulators in the US, EU and elsewhere are becoming increasingly active in their enforcement efforts.  Often regulators in multiple jurisdictions conduct parallel investigations. Much of  Kristin’s practice has focused on the representation of foreign clients.  Kristin’s international experience will be invaluable to our clients and to our firm.”

Ms. Tahler said:  “Quinn Emanuel is the gold standard for litigation and its goal is to have the top White Collar practice in the world.  It will be exciting for me to help the Firm achieve that goal.”

Richard Marmaro, the head of Skadden’s West Coast SEC enforcement and white collar defense practice said:  “Kristin had a lead role in the biggest white collar litigations at Skadden — the Broadcom and Agility cases.  Her sage counsel will be sorely missed by our white collar group, but Quinn Emanuel has added a real superstar.”

Ms. Tahler received her A.B. from Princeton University and her J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.  She serves on the board of directors of Mental Health Advocacy Services, a nonprofit organization that provides legal services to children and adults with mental disabilities.
