Sidley Austin LLP announced today that Nancy Chung has joined the firm in its New York office as a partner in the Litigation practice, concentrating on complex commercial litigation. Prior to joining Sidley, Ms. Chung was a partner in the New York office of another prominent global law firm.

Ms. Chung represents multinational corporations, private equity funds, hedge funds, and major financial institutions in a wide range of complex commercial, securities, and bankruptcy litigation, international arbitrations, and white collar defense and internal and other regulatory investigations. She is highly experienced in handling such matters involving alleged securities and accounting fraud, and the range of financial disputes, as well as representing clients in investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Justice, including those involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and anti-bribery laws in foreign jurisdictions.

“We are excited to have Nancy join us in New York,” said Steven M. Bierman, a member of Sidley’s Executive Committee and a global leader of the firm’s Complex Commercial Litigation practice. “Nancy’s success as a business litigator in a broad range of arenas and her deep knowledge of the legal and business challenges facing those in the investment funds industry, in particular, complements our team of experienced and accomplished lawyers.”

“Nancy’s strong understanding of the complexities of litigation, especially in the financial services sector, will serve our clients well,” said Michael J. Schmidtberger, Executive Committee member and managing partner of the firm’s New York office. “Her familiarity with the intricate workings of large corporations and investment firms will be an important resource. We are pleased to welcome her to our team.”
