NEW YORK, November 25, 2015—McGlinchey Stafford PLLC is happy to announce that 20-year attorney John C. Ohman has joined the firm's New York City office as Of Counsel. Ohman will practice within the firm's national Intellectual Property and Commercial Litigation practice groups.

Ohman is an experienced litigator whose law practice spans more than 20 years, focusing on complex technology, commercial, and business litigation. He has litigated a broad range of cases involving trademarks, copyrights, patents, trade secrets, restrictive covenants, antitrust, Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), fiduciary breaches, real estate, construction litigation, and close corporation and partnership disputes, as well as employment, legal malpractice, and business torts. He has extensive experience in disputes arising from the failure of computer software and other high-technology implementation projects. Separately, Ohman has represented clients in numerous proceedings before the American Arbitration Association and other arbitration authorities.

"We're delighted to welcome John to our New York City office, and to our expanding Intellectual Property and Commercial Litigation teams," said Anthony Rollo, Chair of the firm's national Commercial Litigation practice group. "John's broad and deep litigation experience complements our existing New York practice and also adds significant strength to our national practice groups. His insight and experience representing companies in a wide range of high-tech disputes and complex litigation provide tremendous value to our clients, and adding him to our thriving New York business is a major win for our clients," Rollo added.

Prior to entering the legal field, Ohman spent nearly 10 years working in the financial services industry, chiefly in the operational areas of trades processing and reconciliation. Following law school, Ohman began his legal career at Brown Raysman & Millstein and remained at that firm after its merger with Thelen Reid & Priest in 2006. At Brown Raysman, he served as General Counsel and Litigation Department Assignment Partner while maintaining an active litigation practice. Ohman earned his J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law in 1992 and his B.A. from Columbia University in 1978.

“My clients’ needs have continued to evolve in a changing and competitive marketplace,” said Ohman. “McGlinchey Stafford has the legal expertise, bench depth, and geographic reach to meet those needs across core litigation and transactional practice disciplines. I am excited to join this dynamic and growing firm," Ohman added.

McGlinchey Stafford’s New York City office was established in 2014 to better serve the legal needs of key clients in the areas of financial services, business, and general civil litigation, while expanding the firm’s regional footprint in the Northeast. The firm's New York City office has grown by seven attorneys in 2015 to its current headcount of 13 attorneys following the addition of Ohman. The firm also has an office in Albany, with four attorneys.
