WASHINGTON, DC – Kaufman & Company LLC, a national trial and business litigation law firm, has opened a Washington, DC office – Kaufman Schwartz & Company PLLC – and welcomes Attorney Kip Schwartz as Member, effective April 1st.  This will bring the number of offices to three, with existing offices in Cleveland, Ohio and New York City.  Mr. Schwartz will lead the firm’s new Washington, DC office as the Member in Charge, and will also lead client work out of the New York City office.  With more than three decades of experience, Mr. Schwartz focuses his practice on plaintiff professional liability, fiduciary duty, complex commercial, partnerships and trade secret litigation. The DC office is located at 1010 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Suite 540.

Most recently, Mr. Schwartz was a partner at Thompson Hine LLP’s Washington, DC office and subsequently, Schwartz & Associates. Mr. Schwartz is a graduate of Hamilton College and the New York Law School, and is admitted to practice in both the District of Columbia and New York.

In the 1980s, he served as a trial attorney for the Federal Trade Commission, leading federal court litigation teams responsible for prosecution of civil fraud cases.  In this capacity, he served as counsel to the Justice Department and various state attorney generals in criminal prosecutions of FTC respondents.

The firm’s offices in Cleveland, New York and Washington will include five partners and five other lawyers bringing, the firm’s total number of attorneys to 10.
