SILICON VALLEY, 14 June 2016 – Hogan Lovells announced today that Babak Nikravesh has joined the firm’s Corporate Practice Group as a partner in the Silicon Valley and San Francisco offices. His arrival closely follows the addition of Paul Downs to the firm’s Corporate Practice Group in New York.

The duo have worked together for 15 years, advising clients on a range of complex corporate and tax matters.

The addition of Nikravesh and Downs brings to the Corporate Practice Group particular knowledge of the sovereign wealth fund and governmental pension plan environment and perspectives from their work with a varied and loyal global clientele.

“Babak’s tax expertise and cross-border experience with sovereign wealth funds is a natural fit for our Corporate Practice group,” said David Gibbons, global head of the firm’s Corporate Practice Group.  “We are focussed on growing our New York and Northern California capabilities and the addition of this team is another step in that direction.”

Nikravesh focuses on the corporate and tax aspects of domestic and cross-border investments, M&A, joint ventures, and other transactions. His work for his clients includes advising on private equity and real estate fund investments, co-investments, direct investments, and other transactions.

“Hogan Lovells’ capabilities will allow me to deepen my relationships with sovereign wealth fund and pension fund clients,” added Nikravesh. “I am excited to be a part of this impressive global team.”

A frequent writer and lecturer on a variety of international tax topics, Nikravesh is recognized in Chambers and is an author of the BNA Tax Management Portfolio, U.S. Income Taxation of Foreign Governments, International Organizations, Central Banks and Their Employees. Nikravesh earned a J.D. from University of California, Los Angeles; an M.A. from Stanford University; an LL.M. from the London School of Economics; and a B.A. from University of California, Berkeley.
