PHILADELPHIA (June 22, 2016) – David S. Fryman, recognized throughout the industry for his work in labor and employment matters, has been elected a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.

Fellows elected to the College have distinguished themselves by exemplifying the highest standards of professionalism and civility in the practice of labor and employment law and dedicating themselves to the improvement of legal services in that area.

"David has a rare blend of class, capability, and character that sets him apart in the practice," firm Chair Mark Stewart said. "He is a tough adversary, yet a gentleman through and through, and his generosity in serving the profession and the people who need but cannot afford legal services is admirable. We are proud of him."

The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers began as a nonprofit professional association honoring the country’s leading Labor and Employment lawyers. It has evolved to become an intellectual and practical resource for labor lawyers, employers, advocacy groups, unions, and government agencies.

"David's steadfast dedication to untangling even the most complicated labor and employment matters makes him a tremendous asset to his clients and the firm," said Geoffrey A. Kahn, Chair of the firm’s Litigation Department.

Mr. Fryman represents employers both in and out of the courtroom on matters involving discrimination, wage and hour issues, collective bargaining, and unfair labor practice proceedings. He handles ERISA and employee benefits litigation, as well as restrictive covenant and trade secret cases. Mr. Fryman has been nationally recognized for his pro bono work. For the past 12 years, he has been leading a team of Ballard Spahr lawyers seeking to overturn the murder conviction of an inmate who at one point was on Pennsylvania's death row.

Mr. Fryman has been recognized as one of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business every year since 2007. Mr. Fryman joins Ballard Spahr partners John B. Langel, Denise M. Keyser, and Steven W. Suflas as Fellows of the college.
