Washington, D.C., Sept. 27, 2016—Cozen O’Connor is pleased to welcome René Y. Quashie to the firm as a member of the Health Care Practice Group, resident in the Washington, D.C., office. He joins Cozen O’Connor from Epstein Becker Green, where he was senior counsel.
Quashie represents clients on a range of health care and life sciences matters, including federal regulatory and administrative health care matters, and has been on the forefront of legal issues surrounding telemedicine and digital health. He also handles matters involving Medicare and Medicaid, legislative and health policy, general compliance, and health information technology.
“We are delighted to add a lawyer of René’s caliber to our already robust and growing nationally-renowned health care team,” said Mark H. Gallant, co-chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Health Care Practice Group. “Health care law is complex and rapidly evolving—and René’s depth of experience in health care law in general, and specifically with telemedicine matters, will serve as a great asset to our health care clients now and well into the future.”
Quashie serves as a legal adviser to the ERISA Industry Committee’s Telehealth Task Force, where he provides legal and regulatory counsel on telehealth issues to committee members. He also is a member of the Center for Telehealth and eHealth Law Legal Resource Team, where he advises on telehealth matters to the telehealth community.
“With René’s hiring, we continue to grow our presence and depth in Washington, D.C.,” said Barry Boss, office managing partner of Cozen O’Connor’s Washington, D.C. office. “René’s deep experience in health care law and telemedicine will be a tremendous addition to our health care practice group here and throughout the country.”
Over the last several years, Cozen O’Connor’s Washington, D.C. office has been expanding its practice offerings and adding to its deep bench. Home to 60 lawyers and government relations professionals, as well as the nation’s leading State Attorneys General Practice, the Washington, D.C., health care group is now one of the strongest in the country. To accommodate this rapid growth, the firm moved in 2015 to a new space previously built out by Squire Patton Boggs, located at 1200 19th St, NW.
Quashie received his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and his Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University.
