CHICAGO (January 11, 2017) -- Barnes & Thornburg LLP has added Lori L. Shannon to its Chicago office as a partner in the Corporate Department, where she will focus on employee benefits and executive compensation. Shannon was previously at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP.
 
With almost 20 years of experience, Shannon counsels private and public companies and tax-exempt entities on the design and implementation of employee benefit and executive compensation plans and arrangements, including tax-qualified retirement plans, 403(b) plans, health and welfare benefit plans, nonqualified deferred compensation plans and equity-based incentive plans.
 
Shannon assists clients, many in the professional services arena, with the design and drafting of executive and physician employment agreements, as well as severance, retention and change in control agreements. Additionally, she provides fiduciary training to committees at the board and management levels. She is a former certified public accountant.

Shannon is the first new arrival to Barnes & Thornburg’s Chicago office this year. The firm added nine new partners in Chicago in 2016 and now has more than 100 attorneys in its West Loop office. Shannon earned her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and the DePaul Law Review. She received her B.S., with highest honors, from Elmhurst College. She is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois.
