LOS ANGELES – Winston & Strawn LLP is pleased to announce that partner Warren Loui has been named Chairman of the Board of the Weingart Center, a non-profit organization in Los Angeles recognized as the most comprehensive “one-stop” service center for homeless and at-risk homeless in the Western United States.

Warren has been on the Weingart Center’s Board since 2008 and previously served as the Vice Chair. As Chairman, he will support key initiatives to help further the organization’s mission to deliver innovative solutions to break the cycle of homelessness and combat poverty.

“Homelessness is a prevalent and critical issue both in Los Angeles and throughout California,” said Warren. “I am proud to work with an organization that has committed itself to helping so many individuals overcome serious barriers and encouraging more self-sufficient and healthy lifestyles.”

Located on Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles, the Weingart Center’s transitional residential programs provide both housing and crucial wrap-around services such as advocacy, case management, individualized needs assessment and group meetings, among others.

“The Weingart Center serves some of Los Angeles’s most vulnerable populations, and we couldn’t do that without the support and strategic guidance of our Board of Directors,” said Kevin Murray, President and CEO at the Weingart Center. “Warren has been an invaluable Board member for the last decade, including most recently as Vice Chair. On behalf of the staff of the Weingart Center, I look forward to working alongside Warren and the entire Board as we strive to combat homelessness in Los Angeles.”

In 2017, the Center served 27,163 people in its residential and community programs, provided employment assistance to 10,980 individuals and placed nearly 1,044 into jobs. It recently sought and received approvals for a 278-unit permanent supportive housing development – the largest of its kind in Los Angeles County. Located at 554 S. San Pedro Street, Weingart Tower will also offer a dining facility, event space and services for clients residing in the Tower. It is scheduled to open in late 2020.

Warren joined Winston & Strawn in 2010 and focuses his practice on securitization, lending and emerging companies. In addition to the Weingart Center, he also serves on the Executive Advisory Council of Asian Americans Advancing Justice, is an adjunct professor at USC Law School, and is the co-owner of Cardinal Rule Wines.
