Manatt, Phelps & Phillips announced today that Brian Turoff has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner and the head of the New York employment and labor practice. Turoff will help strengthen the practice in New York by leveraging his extensive experience across industries including financial services, healthcare and entertainment and media.
Turoff brings to Manatt a proven track record of representing clients across all aspects of employment and labor law. He is experienced in handling matters before the National Labor Relations Board, the Department of Labor and the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission, and routinely advises clients on workforce compliance laws and strategies for mitigating risk surrounding employment disputes. In the traditional labor sector, he has guided clients through a wide range of issues, including collective bargaining, union and management relations, grievance arbitrations and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements.

“We are delighted that Brian has joined our team. As companies navigate an increasingly complex employment and labor space, Brian has the experience and skills to guide clients seeking a trusted advisor or seasoned litigator,” said Esra Hudson, chair of Manatt’s employment and labor practice. “He will be an immediate asset to clients in matters related to employment discrimination claims, wage and hour disputes, lawful hiring, disciplinary and termination practices and sexual harassment prevention and defense.”

Turoff is a skilled practitioner and litigator with experience representing companies of all sizes in day-to-day client counseling and in civil and administrative litigation and arbitration. Prior to joining Manatt, he was a partner at Venable, LLP, where he represented clients with respect to a broad range of employment and labor-related issues.

“To me, what sets Manatt apart is its status as an elite, well-established firm that simultaneously is committed to cutting-edge, entrepreneurial thinking and has a demonstrated commitment to providing clients with the best possible service and business-minded solutions,” Turoff said. “I am thrilled to join the firm, and I look forward to the continued growth and success of our practice.”

Turoff earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A. from Binghamton University.
