Andrew Skowronski has joined McGuireWoods’ Employee Benefits Practice Group as a partner in New York. He brings more than a decade of experience advising clients on executive compensation agreements and employee benefits matters related to private equity transactions and strategic M&A deals.
Skowronski counsels clients on benefits and executive compensation arrangements associated with corporate transactions and ongoing company operations. He assists in designing and implementing equity-based, phantom equity, and cash-based incentives and deferred compensation plans, as well as employment, retention and severance agreements. He comes to McGuireWoods from Katten Muchin Rosenman.
“Andrew is highly regarded for his ability to guide clients through intricate executive compensation and employee benefits issues in their daily operations and in corporate transactions,” said Taylor French, co-leader of McGuireWoods’ Employee Benefits Practice Group.
Gerald V. Thomas II, chair of McGuireWoods’ Tax & Employee Benefits Department, added: “Andrew’s reputation as a trusted, business-focused adviser makes him a perfect fit for our team and an asset to our corporate clients, particularly in transactional matters.”
Skowronski joins a McGuireWoods practice that covers the spectrum of issues relating to retirement and compensation-related arrangements, including those intersecting M&A, private equity, fund formation, financing transactions and other critical areas of the law. The firm earned a nationwide ranking for employee benefits, executive compensation and retirement plans in The Legal 500 United States guide.
“McGuireWoods has an outstanding team assisting private equity sponsors and closely held businesses of all sizes in designing benefits and executive compensation plans that meet their goals,” Skowronski said. “I am excited to put my experience to work for clients.”
Skowronski’ s arrival in McGuireWoods’ New York office follows the recent addition of partner Sharaf Islam, an accomplished project finance attorney who focuses on negotiating complex energy and infrastructure financings.
“Andrew is a valuable addition as we continue expanding our client service capabilities in New York,” said Jeffrey Chapman, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ New York office.
