Natasha Cooper, an accomplished litigator and former federal prosecutor, has returned to McGuireWoods as a partner in the firm’s nationally recognized Government Investigations & White Collar Litigation Practice Group. She is based in the firm’s Atlanta office.

Cooper rejoins the firm after serving for four years as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Northern District of Georgia. She led multimillion-dollar fraud and cybercrime investigations involving international targets and prosecuted matters involving securities and tax fraud, phishing and ransomware attacks, and corporate embezzlement.

Cooper was a litigation associate at McGuireWoods from 2018 to 2021, representing financial institutions, broker-dealers and investment advisers in commercial litigation matters. She returns to a practice that has represented Fortune 100 companies and financial institutions in some of the most notable and complicated criminal, regulatory and investigative matters of the past decade. McGuireWoods has a deep bench of former federal and state prosecutors and senior enforcement officials in its litigation practices.

“The insight Natasha gained leading major investigations as a federal prosecutor will be an asset for the firm and our clients,” said Noreen Kelly, deputy managing partner of McGuireWoods’ litigation practice. “We could not be happier to welcome her back to McGuireWoods.”

Jason Cowley, chair of the firm’s Government Investigations & White Collar Litigation Department, added: “Natasha has a stellar record of accomplishment in public service and private practice. Her experience enhances our strong team’s formidable capabilities in Atlanta and nationwide.”

Cooper’s arrival at McGuireWoods follows the recent addition of three former U.S. attorneys: Ryan Buchanan in Atlanta, who served with Cooper in the Northern District of Georgia; Michael Easley Jr. in Raleigh, North Carolina; and Eric Olshan in Pittsburgh.

“Natasha is an outstanding lawyer and leader who made enormous contributions as an assistant U.S. attorney, earning the respect of the legal community in Georgia and beyond,” Buchanan said. “She is an important addition to our practice, and I am thrilled to welcome her back as a colleague.”

Cooper said: “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as an assistant U.S. attorney and excited to return to McGuireWoods. I look forward to renewing relationships with clients and colleagues and collaborating once more with the firm’s world-class litigation team.”
