The legal community, the firm of Ziskind Greene & Karr and friends and family mourn the passing of recruiter Gregg Ziskind.
Former partner Larry Watanabe offered the following remembrance:
"Born Aug. 22, 1944, a graduate of UCLA Law School in 1972, Ziskind practiced corporate, securities and real estate law in Los Angeles before he entered the virtually nonexistent legal search business in 1978.
He was the true pioneer of the legal recruitment industry. Joined by Michael Greene, Ziskind Greene, became the largest legal search firms in California with more than 20 recruiters.
Gregg was a founder of the National Association of Legal Search Consultants, served on its Board of Directors and as Chair of its Ethics Committee and drafted its national Code of Ethics. He wrote and spoke extensively throughout the nation on issues relating to lateral hiring and legal search.
Gregg fostered the legal search business. He was a mentor and developed to shape the legal recruiting industry as we know it today. Despite his mass industry prowess, Gregg's mantra was family first.
He is survived by his wife Geri Ziskind-Boltax and Susan Ziskind, sister, Trudy Ziskind and daughters, Michelle Ziskind and Jessica Ziskind-Bloodworth.
I was blessed to have joined Gregg in 1990. Shortly thereafter he rebranded the company - Ziskind Greene Watanabe & Nason. Both my partner Bill Nason along with Gregg dominated the California legal recruitment market. It was a life honor.
Gregg leaves a legacy to all of us. And forever he shall remain forever, we shall always remember his statement: ‘Res ipsa loquitur.’”
