New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA — We are pleased to announce that Carol Sigmond and Joshua Deal have joined our Infrastructure Group. They will serve as Partners in the Firm’s New York City office. Christopher T. Luehs also joins them in the New York office and will serve as an Associate. Before joining Nossaman, the group had a litigation practice centered on construction and real estate at Greenspoon Marder LLP.

Carol has more than four decades of legal experience and focuses her practice on construction and real estate matters, including arbitration, appeals, bid protests, contract preparation, mediation, litigation, receivership and suretyship. She represents clients in construction litigation relating to issues that arise when adjacent owners develop their properties, as well as expediting a builder’s construction project by ensuring that the proper contracts are in place. As a seasoned practitioner, Carol has a history of litigating construction disputes for public works and buildings in both the public and private sectors. She also has extensive knowledge of preparing contract documents, including design-build, construction management, guaranteed maximum price, and fixed-price contracts. Additionally, she is an experienced mediator and arbitrator handling construction and real estate cases for the New York County Supreme Court Commercial Division Roster of Volunteer Mediators and the American Arbitration Association’s Roster of Construction Industry Arbitrators.

Joshua represents owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers in litigation and transactional matters relating to construction. He is an experienced litigator in state and federal courts in New York and New Jersey and has extensive experience handling appeals. He represents construction industry clients on contract disputes, construction defect claims, delay claims, payment and performance bond claims, mechanic’s lien claims, and adjacent property damage claims. Joshua also drafts and negotiates construction agreements and license and access agreements, and counsels his clients on project management, risk management, insurance, and dispute resolution issues at all stages of projects.

Carol holds a J.D. from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law and a B.A. from Grinnell College. She has been perennially recognized by Super Lawyers in the Construction Litigation field, awarded the Boris Kostelanetz President’s Medal by the New York County Lawyers Association, and recognized by Crain’s New York Business in its “Notable Women of Law” supplement.

Joshua obtained his J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law. He has been recognized by Lawdragon in its “500 X – The Next Generation” issue and named by Best Lawyers® as “One to Watch” in the Construction Litigation field.
