SILICON VALLEY—February 9, 2026—O’Melveny announced today that experienced corporate adviser Thomas Asmar has joined the firm’s Silicon Valley office as a partner in the Tax Practice and a member of the Executive Compensation Group, bolstering the team’s West Coast capabilities and expanding its formidable nationwide roster of trusted corporate practitioners.
Over the course of his nearly 25-year career, Asmar has advised public and private companies, as well as private equity and alternative investment funds, on compensation arrangements and benefits matters related to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, financings, and other corporate transactions. He also guides companies through the design and implementation of executive compensation plans—including employment agreements, equity compensation structures, incentive compensation, deferred compensation, severance agreements, and change-in-control arrangements. In addition, Asmar provides counsel on tax, securities, and corporate governance issues. His clients span a wide array of industries, including technology, life sciences, and manufacturing.
Asmar comes to O’Melveny from Baker McKenzie, where he was a partner in that firm’s Employment & Compensation and Mergers & Acquisitions Practices. His addition accelerates O’Melveny’s continued strategic growth. With his arrival, 44 lateral partners have joined the firm since 2023, including 27 corporate partners based in the firm’s Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Century City, Newport Beach, New York, Dallas, Houston, Singapore, and London offices.
“It is a pleasure to welcome Tom to O’Melveny,” said O’Melveny chair Bradley J. Butwin. “He is a skilled lawyer and trusted corporate adviser who strengthens the depth and capacity of our talented Executive Compensation team. Our M&A and private equity clients, especially those in Silicon Valley, will benefit from Tom’s extensive knowledge and broad experience with sophisticated tech transactions. We are delighted to welcome him aboard.”
“I’m excited to be joining O’Melveny’s growing and talented Executive Compensation team,” said Asmar. “I was impressed by the firm’s proven commitment to client service and to fostering a collegial culture. I look forward to working with my new colleagues and to serving my clients on O’Melveny’s world-class platform.”
Asmar earned his J.D. and B.S. from the University of Illinois.
