Kenneth T. Lumb, a U.S. Army Veteran who joined Corboy & Demetrio in 1995, has been named Managing Partner, the firm has announced.

Ken, a plaintiffs’ personal injury trial lawyer, has been a partner at Corboy & Demetrio since 2015. He was commissioned an armor second lieutenant in 1988 through the University of Notre Dame’s Army ROTC program and was then awarded an educational delay to attend law school.  After graduating from the DePaul University College of Law in 1991, Ken entered active duty in the Army’s Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAG Corps).  He served four years as the medical malpractice defense attorney at  Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) in Washington, D.C., then the Defense Department's largest medical facility.

After leaving active duty, Ken served in the Army Reserve for another fifteen years.  In 2003, he was mobilized in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and served six months at WRAMC as the acting Center Judge Advocate, among other titles.  For his efforts, he received a Meritorious Service Medal.

Ken’s practice at Corboy & Demetrio includes the areas of: medical malpractice, personal injury, environmental torts, product liability, medical devices, pharmaceutical and data security breaches.

He currently oversees the firm’s Shell Oil Company gasoline pipeline spill litigation, representing more than 65 Kankakee area residents who were sickened by contaminated drinking water and the families of those who died as a result of drinking contaminated water.

Outside of court, Ken has worked extensively on behalf of veterans, active duty and reserve service members and their families.  He has served as Chair of the American Association for Justice’s Federal Tort and Military Advocacy Section and the Illinois State Bar Association’s (ISBA) Standing Committee on Military Affairs.  In 2011, Ken received the Lawyers who Care about Military Families Award from the Illinois State Bar Association, and he remains an advocate for U.S. military families everywhere.

Since 2012, Ken has served as a Columnist at Chicago Lawyer Magazine where he co-authors the column, MedMal Matters, with Corboy & Demetrio Co-founder Thomas A. Demetrio.
