Read the Lawdragon Q&A with Frank Lamothe, who discusses his personal injury and business litigation practice.

Frank E. Lamothe, III is a seasoned trial lawyer with years of experience handling personal injury, wrongful death and business litigation cases. He has a stellar reputation as an extremely skilled trial attorney who conducts himself with integrity as well as an attorney who has always maintained the highest standards of professionalism. Frank Lamothe has tried and won numerous multi-million dollar cases during his career in federal and state courts throughout the country including Louisiana, Arizona, Florida and Mississippi. As a personal injury trial lawyer, Frank Lamothe has particular experience in maritime, offshore, Jones Act and oil field claims as well as industrial, trucking and motorcycle accident cases. In business law, he has had substantial success in the areas of business torts, contracts, breach of fiduciary duties, employment and LLC breakup cases. He has also tried mass tort cases, including representing numerous businesses and individuals who have suffered losses in the BP Oil Spill and is serving on the economic loss task force in the federal court litigation filed in the matter.

Frank Lamothe has earned his reputation through superior trial skills and verdicts won through diligence, hard work and experience. As one trial consultant commented: “You are a no-nonsense, business-like, precise courtroom practitioner who asks questions in a straight-forward and rapid manner. You relentlessly draw out a witness until you secure all information needed or required and you methodically pursue your agenda regardless of irritation, interruption or pressure.” Mr. Lamothe receives frequent referrals from other attorneys who appreciate his vast trial experience in personal injury and business litigation.  As one colleague said:“He is one of the finest trial lawyers in the United States. He is also a shining example of what it means to be a true professional: dedicated to helping others, unfailingly polite to fellow attorneys and members of the public, diligent in all cases he undertakes.”

Frank Lamothe has particular experience in litigation involving sex abuse and he is known for working diligently to find justice for the victims. He was instrumental in settling a group of clergy sex abuse cases for over $5 million. He has also lectured on sex abuse in Louisiana and authored a paper entitled “Sex Abuse in Louisiana.” He has also been involved in legal education. He taught Trial Advocacy at the Tulane University School of Law, the Paul F. Hebert School of Law at Louisiana State University, and the School of Law at Loyola University in New Orleans. He has served on numerous seminar programs, and has lectured at a large number of continuing legal education programs in the areas of maritime personal injury and death claims and a variety of subjects relating to his trial practice. Among his civic activities, Frank Lamothe recently created the Lamothe Charitable Fund, which is primarily dedicated to disadvantaged children’s causes.

While Frank Lamothe is honored by such distinctions, he is most proud of being the dedicated father of three children. Outside of the home, his leisure activities include reading, travel, tennis, motorcycle touring, track riding, and, most recently, Krav Maga (martial arts) training.
