The 2026 Lawdragon 500 Leading Global Migration Lawyers is the updated and expanded version of our reporting on leading lawyers advising on migration and immigration, which we began in 2008. We have most recently published this guide as The Lawdragon 100 Leading Immigration Lawyers.
We have expanded the guide to include experts from around the globe in recognition of the fundamental role of the ability to move and cross borders for personal and professional motivations.
As in its predecessor guides, we are seeking outstanding migration and immigration advisors from the employment context for businesses and other organizations. We are also seeking "consumer" focused immigration advocates, who advise families and individuals on their immigration matters. We are also seeking policy specialists who shape the laws and regulations on migration and immigration.
The Lawdragon selection process has been created by a team of professionals who collectively have spent more than 100 years researching and reporting on the world’s legal professionals.
The foundation of our selection is in journalism. We research each guide extensively, studying which lawyers and law practices have had significant impact, including an emphasis on recent matters handled. We review cutting-edge litigation, as well as trends in migration and immigration law and review the lawyers consistently turned to for guidance in those matters. We accept submissions and review them alongside candidates we independently identify and consider for each guide. We also work with editorial advisors who specialize in migration and immigration law to identify and vet candidates.
To make a Lawdragon guide, a lawyer will have been in practice 10 years, with extremely rare exceptions. Similarly, virtually all will be partners in their law practice or hold a designation that indicates the regard of those with whom they practice. Leadership within their practice in a firm and or in relevant bar organizations is considered. The regard in which one is held by peers is noted. We aim to include those lawyers who aspire to be and who are admired for their intellect and wisdom as well as conduct and leadership.
