Renee Good's Family Working with Lawdragon Civil Rights Honoree Antonio Romanucci

Lawdragon honoree Antonio Romanucci is representing the family of Renee Good, who was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis nine days ago.

Good’s death has incited protests in Minneapolis and beyond, drawing comparisons to the public response to the killing of fellow Minneapolis resident George Floyd by police in 2020. Romanucci and co-counsel Ben Crump secured a historic $27M result for Floyd’s family in a civil suit against the city.

On the Good case, Romanucci will be joined by a team of lawyers from his Chicago-based firm, Romanucci & Blandin, along with co-counsel Kevin Riach of The Law Office of Kevin Riach in Minneapolis.

In a press release, Romanucci’s firm said that the Good legal team intends to carry out its civil investigation with public transparency. The firm recently delivered an evidence-preservation letter to the federal government.

Lawdragon spoke with Romanucci and partner Frank Sommario last month about their decades of legal community leadership. Romanucci currently serves on the Civil Rights Committee of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, where he served as President from 2019-2020.

“When you look at two of the organizations that I'm most active in right now, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice, they perfectly align with not only our practice areas, but with where we feel our country should be and what our clients’ rights should be,” says Romanucci. “Illinois Trial Lawyers fights for justice, accountability and our clients’ constitutional rights. The AAJ does the same thing except on a national level. In my point of view, that’s even more important now because we're seeing an undermining of those rights.”

Romanucci is a member of the Lawdragon 500 Leading Civil Rights & Plaintiff Employment Lawyers.
