KANSAS CITY, MO (April 23, 2013) Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the world’s largest employment and labor law firm representing management, today announced the addition of seven attorneys across multiple offices throughout the U.S., led by renowned labor and employment practitioner Don Prophete, who will be a shareholder in the firm’s Kansas City office. The group joins Littler from Ogletree Deakins, where Prophete was formerly vice president of the firm and founding partner of its Kansas City office.

Prophete is joining with six other shareholders in Littler’s Boston, Denver, Kansas City, New York and St. Louis offices. The group includes the following:

Damon Hart – Boston

Irene Gallagher – Denver

Nikki Hininger Howell – Kansas City

Nicholas James Walker – Kansas City

Anjanette Cabrera – New York

Robert Ortbals, Jr. – St. Louis

Prophete and his team follow two high profile additions of Maurice Baskin in Littler’s Washington, D.C. office and Jeffrey Mintz in the firm’s Atlanta office, who both joined Littler in April.

“Littler is in a unique position with its vast geographic reach and deep resources to attract high quality, sizeable lateral groups as part of its growth strategy,” said Thomas Bender, co-president and managing director of Littler. “This is a win-win move, with Don bringing an impressive team and client roster to Littler.”

Prophete focuses his practice on employment litigation, having tried more than 20 cases over the course of his career. He also provides high-level employment counseling to C-suite executives at multinational companies spanning several industries, including retail, hospitality, investment banking, insurance and electric utilities, among others.

“These latest additions are yet another validation of the talented attorneys finding Littler to be an attractive destination for their practices, where they can leverage our vast internal resources and firm-wide subject matter experts to serve clients effectively and efficiently,” added Jeremy Roth, co-president and managing director.

While at Ogletree Deakins, Prophete served two, three-year board terms and was vice president during his second third-year term. He sat on the five-member board of directors that drove the firm’s business decisions and was the head of the firm’s diversity committee in 2006 and 2007. Prophete also played an integral role in recruiting many of the firm’s minority lawyers.

“There was no question in my mind that joining Littler was the right career move,” Prophete said. “With an excellent reputation as an innovative, knowledge and employment litigation powerhouse, we will be able to draw on the strength of Littler’s global expertise and impressive resources to provide high level counsel to our clients as they deal with emerging issues.”

“The labor and employment market for talent is extremely competitive and we are thrilled to have such an impressive group of attorneys join the firm led by one of the country’s top labor and employment lawyers, Don Prophete,” said Daniel Boatright, office managing shareholder of the firm’s Kansas City office. “The Kansas City market is growing along with Littler and adding an attorney of Don’s stellar reputation supported by a solid team adds bench strength to our already solid market position.”
