January 9, 2017 – DLA Piper announced today the addition of Michael Brown to the firm’s Corporate practice as a partner in the San Diego office.

With extensive experience domestically and internationally, Brown represents emerging companies, public companies and financial institutions in private placements of equity and debt securities, mergers and acquisitions, public offerings and corporate governance and securities law compliance matters. He regularly assists clients as they buy and sell middle-market companies.

“Michael is an excellent lawyer and counselor to his clients with significant expertise in emerging growth, M&A and securities,” said John Gilluly, DLA Piper’s US chair of the Corporate practice. “He is a great addition to our growing West Coast practice and will be a tremendous resource for clients.”

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Brown was a partner in the San Diego office of Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth. He brings a wealth of experience in several industries including life science, medical device, technology, communications, education, healthcare and retail.

“Southern California, particularly San Diego, is a booming market for emerging growth companies, in particular in the life science, technology and healthcare sectors,” said Troy Zander, managing partner of DLA Piper’s San Diego office. “Michael has a highly respected practice working with fast growing companies in these sectors throughout their life cycle, whether advising on corporate governance matters or handling their complex transactions, and adding his experience and skillset will enhance the services we provide to our clients on the West Coast, including Silicon Valley, as well as across our global platform.”

Brown received his J.D. from the University of Virginia and his B.A. from the University of Washington.
