Rachel Nonaka is a Partner in Washington, D.C., where she focuses on placing partners and senior government attorneys across practice areas into leading U.S. and international law firms. She also works closely with firms on their lateral attorney search processes. Nonaka specializes in learning the unique attributes and hiring needs of each firm and its practice groups and identifying candidates who will be strong substantive and cultural fits for the firm. Prior to joining Macrae, Nonaka was a federal prosecutor at both the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia. She investigated and brought white collar securities enforcement actions for over a decade. Based on this experience, Nonaka fully understands the challenges of senior government officials transitioning to private practice and can offer them a uniquely valuable perspective to help them find the right firm for the next stage in their careers. Nonaka also was an adjunct law professor at the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. She enjoys working with attorneys of any level of seniority, including attorneys in the early stages of their careers as they evaluate and navigate potential career decisions.
Nonaka received her J.D. from the Villanova University School of Law and her undergraduate degrees in Finance and Government from the College of William and Mary, where she was a Division 1 scholarship track athlete.
