Los Angeles – June 25, 2014 – Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced that Allan Gabriel has been named Director of the firm's Intellectual Property Department.

Based in the firm’s Los Angeles office, Gabriel joined Dykema in 2007 and focuses his practice on IP litigation with an emphasis on patent, trademark and copyright infringement; trade secrets; and false advertising and right of publicity claims on trial court and appellate levels. He has substantial experience in handling antitrust, unfair competition, and internet-related litigation matters for a variety of industries, including high tech components, software development, manufacturing, newspaper publications and consumer electronics, leisure and food products.

In his practice, Allan has represented companies at various stages of growth, from emerging tech startups to established national financial institutions. He was named a Southern California SuperLawyers® for Intellectual Property Litigation from 2006-2014 and a Top Rated Lawyer in Intellectual Property by American Lawyer Media and Martindale-Hubbell™ in 2013.

“Allan’s command of intellectual property law—a sophisticated and nuanced area of the law—is complemented by his strong litigation skills and extraordinary attentiveness to clients,” said Peter Kellett, Chairman and CEO of Dykema. “Under Allan’s guidance, Dykema’s IP department will build on its reputation as one of the most innovative IP practices in the nation.”

Dykema’s IP lawyers counsel clients across the life cycle of intangible IP assets in virtually all industries. The firm’s legal services include IP litigation, patent prosecution, trademark enforcement and copyright protection, as well as due diligence on asset portfolios. Dykema’s attorneys—many of whom are registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office—draw on technical backgrounds in such fields as mechanical, electrical and computer engineering; aerospace and automotive technologies; chemistry; biochemistry and molecular biology to provide exceptional representation to clients.

“The practice of IP law is much more than the legal details of IP litigation, patent prosecution, trademark protection and copyright defense. It’s understanding that for many clients, intellectual property is the most valued and treasured business asset they have,” Gabriel said. “Dykema has established itself as a premiere IP legal advisor to companies, investors and entrepreneurs worldwide. I’m eager to lead the team to even greater growth in its vigorous representation of our clients.”

Gabriel received a B.A. from Queens College and a J.D. from Rutgers Law School.
