Featuring the leading lawyers in the United States and beyond.
Our Annual Guides
Lawdragon currently produces the following guides: The Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America, our annual “lawyers of the year” look at the best of the profession; an annual guide to the Most Powerful Corporate Employment Lawyers produced with Human Resource Excecutive Magazine; a companion guide to the Lawdragon 500 Plaintiff Employment Lawyers; and the Lawdragon 100 Leading Legal Consultants and Strategists.
Information on our guides can be found below. All inquiries can be directed to Lawdragon Editor-in-Chief John Ryan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Each year, we publish The Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America – the most elite guide in the legal profession. The Lawdragon 500 guides are selected from a combination of editorial research by Lawdragon staff; submissions from law firms; and an online nomination form that allows visitors to our site to recommend and comment on their favorite lawyers. Our own editorial research is the most important factor in the selection process, but firm submissions and online nominations are both extremely helpful.
Any visitor to our site can use the online form to nominate individual attorneys. Law firms can send submissions for their attorneys by email to Editor John Ryan at email@example.com or by calling 646.241.5427.
The most recent guide is the 2018 Lawdragon 500, which is featured in the 2018 Magazine. As in recent years, we also feature the “Legends of the 500” – for those who have made the guide at least 10 times – and the Lawdragon Hall of Fame of past 500 members who have made remarkable contributions to the profession.
Dates for the 2019 Lawdragon 500 are as follows:
- The submissions period and nomination form opened July 23, 2018.
- The deadline to use the nomination form or to send submissions by email to Editor John Ryan at firstname.lastname@example.org was Nov. 2, 2018. Updates to submissions are allowed until Dec. 15, 2018 and can also be sent to John Ryan.
- Selections will be announced in March 2019.
The Lawdragon 500 and new members to the Hall of Fame and Legends lists will be featured in the 2019 edition of Lawdragon Magazine, published in the fall.
What to send for submissions
Some firms only provide us with names to consider; other firms prefer to send supporting information for each lawyer, which typically is about a paragraph or two of accomplishments with an emphasis on recent legal matters from the past year. Supporting information is helpful.
The Lawdragon 100 Leading Legal Consultants and Strategists
Due to popular demand, in 2016 Lawdragon brought back its guide to the top consultants and strategists in the legal industry. The 2018 edition was posted online in the spring and is featured in the 2018 print Magazine.
You can also view recent consultant profiles here.
This guide is based on editorial research, but we accept tips and suggestions from all readers.
Most Powerful Corporate Employment Lawyers
Each year, Lawdragon releases The Guide to the Most Powerful Corporate Employment Lawyers, produced in partnership with Human Resource Executive (HRE) magazine. The 2018 guide was the 11th annual guide published by Lawdragon and HRE and is featured in the 2018 print Magazine.
In addition to the 100 Most Powerful Employment Lawyers, the guide features the Top 20 in Employee Benefits; the Top 20 in Traditional Labor & Employment Law; the Top 20 in Immigration; 40 Up and Comers in the field; and a Hall of Fame list.
The selections are based on Lawdragon’s editorial research as well as by submissions from firms and other visitors to Lawdragon.com.
Dates for the 2019 guide are as follows:
- The submissions period and online ballot opened on Nov. 27, 2018.
- Submissions period and online ballot closes on Dec. 28, 2018.
- Release on Lawdragon.com in April 2019 and in HRE Magazine in June 2019.
The Lawdragon 500 Plaintiff Employment Lawyers
In August 2018, we launched the companion guide to the corporate, defense side list – the Lawdragon 500 Plaintiff Employment Lawyers guide. This new guide was researched for more than two years as we produced the corporate guide and highlights the very best of the plaintiffs’ bar representing employees and workers.
Lawyers, firms and their representatives wanting to be considered for the Summer 2019 edition should email Editor John Ryan at email@example.com with details of their practices and achievements.
Lawdragon Insight Guides are the insider’s look at top outside counsel as chosen by the world’s leading in-house lawyers.
We will produce Lawdragon Insights segmented by industry and practice with particular emphasis on areas in which there is increased interest and activity.
The first edition was Lawdragon Insights: Private Funds. Other planned titles include Cross-Border Litigation and International Dispute Resolution.
Firms may submit information for consideration to Katrina Dewey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
